Blaueisumrahmung (IV)
The chosen tour is situated within the mountain range of Berchtesgaden, Germany. Through my time at the German mountaineering unit in Berchtesgaden in 2005 (compulsary military service) and several visits of this area afterwards, I got to know many beautiful (rather unknown) climbing and ski tours around the lovely town of Berchtesgaden.
In my opinion, the so called Blaueisumrahmung is perfectably suitable to celebrate 150 years of the best and most well-known mammoth as:
- we as a team want to summit a high point within our own vincinity, our own country, showing what kinds of possibilities there are to use Mammut equipment just a few hours drive from our home town.
- the team is made up of different characters and backgrounds, all united for one reason: enjoying some perfect days in the mountains together. As we are currently all living in different places (Geneve, Frankfurt, Munich), the tour chosen would make it possible to come togther for an extended weekend and tackle the tour as one team within the element we know the best -> rock.
- he tour is not particular for its altitude or location it is situated in, but for its length and diversity. From the so called Blaueis-hut it takes to about 8-10h to cross all 6 summits, with the Hochkalter being the top of the tour.
- It can be regarded as a classical alpine-climbing tour (ABSOLUTE ALPINE! :), demanding some stamina and experience with various kinds of terrain in a rather quiet place of the Alps.
